DYLAN MARTINEZ

These hollow and solid sculptures in the shape of water filled plastic bags examine the boundaries of human perception by manipulating light and space with the optical properties of glass. While influenced by traditional techniques in glass making, Dylan Martinez constantly strives to discover novel approaches to the use of the material and create a lens to view the world afresh.

He is from Stillwater, Minnesota where he received his bachelor’s degree in broad field science at The University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2008. In 2017, he received his MFA in glass, at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Dylan opened his glass studio in White Salmon, Washington in October 2017. He and his wife live in Hood River, Oregon and enjoy the outdoors.
